Sunny Sunday

Tractor trails lie thick and deep
in mud that's hard and dry:
a foil to fiery yellow gorse
and cloudless azure sky.

We've walked a longer trail today,
determined we should roam
outdoors a little longer
(and we left our coats at home).

It didn't feel like February,
more April (minus showers!)
and, breathing in the gentle air,
we might have strolled for hours.

And now we're sipping cups of tea
not feeling over-taxed.
We've soaked up sunshine vitamins
and now we're all relaxed.

This is what the weekend's for:
restoring minds and souls,
ensuring peace to face afresh
whatever next week holds.
