Red Admiral....

....delighted to capture this beautiful Red Admiral butterfly while 'out and about' today. She was amongst some scrappy plants so the image is natural.

The Red Admiral butterfly is endemic to New Zealand and is found in gardens and open country throughout New Zealand. They're hard to capture as they don't stay still for long, this was one of those lucky shots!

Wednesday.......is Waitangi Day, a public holiday and quite often a cultural day although we tended to use it as a family day when our girls were young and at home. It was mostly cloudy today with pockets of sun, a mere 15C, so quite a lot cooler than yesterday's 31C!
