Embangweni.....

This morning we left Mzuzu for Embangweni.  We had to go the long way due to the heavy rains over the past few weeks!  We arrived around 11am and then had to go and visit the school for the deaf.  We had a long tour having to see and hear about every aspect of the school and then see a couple of classes.  This child was just so cute in one of the primary classes!!  After our tour which ended around 2pm we were given lunch - Chicken and Rice with beans and vegetables (the meal all visitors are given in Malawi).  Then we were escorted back to the very basic guesthouse in Embangweni and lunch again was waiting for us (same menu as above).  I could not eat it so I told the lady to keep it for me for later.

Off we went to visit two congregations that are being supported by the organisation the ladies I am with work for.  After the first visit, we were given lunch (around 4.30pm) as they had been waiting for us since 8am (communication breakdown).  The lunch was the same as the previous two!  Then we went to the second congregation and they wanted us to go and see another construction they are doing.  By this stage is was 5.30pm and I was driving.  As I said it has been raining heavily and as I turned into one of the roads I knew we would never get through the road in front without getting stuck!  However, the locals assured me all was well and off I went and of course we got stuck.  Even in 4 wheel drive I could not get out, so I had to be pushed.  We got through to where we were going and coming back I almost got stuck again - by this stage it is pitch dark!   We got back to the congregation and guess what a meal of chicken and rice was waiting for us!  They presented us with a live chicken to take home and eventually around 8.30pm we got back to our guesthouse.

The lunch I had not eaten earlier in the day was waiting for me on the table!  I didn't eat it..or rather I couldn't eat it!!

Time for bed I think...I am exhausted!!
