Di no a las torres

I decided to skip a few days since I'll never catch up with the backblipping otherwise. Thursday: a long-awaited blipmeet with Jamjar! It was lovely to meet her and we had a good old natter over lunch. Luckily it was a light one, since later we all went to eldest sister A's for tea and delicious home-made cake (far better than yesterday's tea!). Mum's house sale now nearly sorted. Friday: a happily smooth and problem-free flight from East Midlands to Malaga, then bus to Nerja where S picked me up. Brief visit home, then a late dinner at Los Geraneos. Saturday: beach! It was glorious ; I still haven't been swimming though.

Today, we went on a demo (blip). There were banners and T-shirts, but most of the 3,000 people there seemed to be treating it as a 6-km Sunday stroll through the lovely Lecrin valley. Where there is a proposal to erect a line of pylons, naturally opposed by the locals.

While we were sitting eating oranges and having a rest at the highest point, S's phone rang. It was our neighbours, inviting us for Sunday lunch. It was 1 pm: "We can be there by three," said S. Luckily this is Spain, so that was fine. We yomped back down, drove home for a quick shower and change, and were there in time.

There turned out to be a sad reason for the last-minute invitation: B and C's prospective American guests had heard that morning that their son had suffered a heart attack, and they were frantically organising flights. So they found themselves with a roast dinner on their hands. We hadn't .managed to see B and C much since a few street conversations around Christmas, and it was a real pleasure to spend time with them. They are very interesting people, former journalists and TV producers with a fund of stories to tell. We left at, erm, past 8 pm. A good day!
