Looking up

Another glorious spring day - sadly we didn't really get to make the most of it. Pete woke up with a nasty flu-like virus that's gone to his chest and made it difficult to breathe, so he spent the day in bed, dosed up with high strength cold and flu medicine. I'm just feeling low, with a sore throat and headache.

But I made it to Sainsbury's and, with Alex's help, managed to produce a very nice meal for Chris and Lizzy, who returned home from Morocco in the late afternoon. They had a wonderful time, and particularly enjoyed the two days they spent in the Atlas Mountains.

Between bouts of cooking I found some time to wander the garden, which was full of honey bees, especially on the cherry-plum blossom. I also spotted a queen tree bumblebee and an early bumblebee, brought out by the unusually mild weather and several hoverflies, as well as the third brimstone of the year. Too soon...
