Not every day

New homes, new lives

Our second Syrian refugee family have been welcomed into the community just as the first family were. However, they did have one neighbour who was making life difficult for them, and today they moved into a new house, which is nicer than the other one and fortuitously is directly across the street from the first family. I think this will be advantageous for both parents and children.

The move today was fairly straightforward, based on good teamwork between the families, members of our support group and the local 'small moves' guy, who gives excellent service despite chronic back pain. The only difficult bit was assembling the parents' bed which we had bought for them yesterday at the local furniture recycling store. The father Hussain and I struggled for an hour with bolts and nuts that would not engage with each other, encouraged but not practically assisted by the children helping. Eventually the bed was finished and they were able to bounce on it.

(The eldest has a nasty case of tinea capitis, which is being treated.)
