A Wet and Muddy Labrador...

....is a happy Labrador. Spring Lake is still closed to cars because everything is coated with a layer of mud, so we walked in to have a look. While we looked at a vast muddy lake*, Ozzie wasted no time going straight in. Then he came out and rolled around in the grass which covered a layer of mud. Then he 'swam' in the meadow, which had filled with enough water to support a pair of ducks swimming for real. Then he came out and rolled in the mud again. While we looked at debris hanging from branches high in the trees, he fished for sticks in muddy ditches. When he had finally had enough wallowing in the mud, he came out of the water and standing as near to us as possible, shook vigorously.

As far as Ozzie was concerned, it was a splendid morning. When we got home we hosed Ozzie down, mud running in rivulets off his belly, sprayed him off, and gave him a bath. As soon as he got out of the confines of the shower, he shook some more necessitating the washing of the bathroom walls and the mopping of the floor. Showers for OilMan and me were next. Finally, I mopped the bedroom and hall floors all the way to Ozzie's bed where he had finally collapsed, exhausted.

We left the car, the porch and the kitchen door for another day so that we could dash across town to look at a working model of the shades we chose yesterday. Notwithstanding the fact that even OilMan couldn't figure out how the disappearing stripes worked, he accepted the inevitable  admitted that he thought they  looked cool. With that decided we stopped by the store for the ingredients for a nice warming bowl of chili, for it has been a dismal, cold and drippy day.

Six hours later, Ozzie is still wet and I am still washing dog towels.
