Beak to beak

The Wood Storks are nesting and mating now and are busy busy at the rookery.  This picture shows part of the mating ritual .. They clack their beaks together during copulation then the male climbs off the female and stands close to her and twines his head around here.  It is quite remarkable what you see when you study the species.    We are so grateful to have an abundant amount of rookeries in Florida.    I hope you enjoy the picture and get to learn as we go about birds and wildlife.
