Langside

Just a small section of a very tall monument to commemorate the Battle of Langside. 

When you think of battles within Glasgow you tend to think of Ibrox (Rangers) or Parkhead (Celtic),  but this battle in 1568 and featuring Mary Queen of Scots was by far the largest in the City.   A very significant battle as she lost it and fled to England where she was imprisoned and eventually executed on the orders of Queen Elizabeth 1.
