Unwinding

Another glorious day in the Highlands, dodging rain and hail and having a simply splendid time. The only fly in the ointment was I forgot my packed lunch and had to share Mr E's.

We had longer on the beaches today, which Fionne thoroughly enjoyed.

Towards sunset, we spotted this enormous structure moving slowly across the ocean (please see Extra). I Googled it when we got back and discovered that it's called
Ocean Greatwhite. It's a semi-submersible, harsh environment oil rig weighing over 60, 000 tonnes. It's the largest of its kind in the world and also the largest concrete structure to have ever moved across the planet. It has travelled from Singapore to Kishorn, via Las Palmas and is now making its way to the North Sea, where it will soon be drilling for oil.
