Spoonbill

It was certainly my lucky day. When I went on my lunchtime walk I met a lady from Bird Aware Solent, a charity which educates people on seabirds. I had previously met her at a bird walk I took part in at Newtown last month and she recognised me. She told me that she'd spotted a Spoonbill up the river in Yarmouth and pointed me in the right direction. I'd heard before that there was a Spoonbill around Yarmouth but despite looking every day I never saw it........until today. I was absolutely thrilled. I've wanted to see one since I heard some were seen in Newtown in 2017. Now there is a small flock of 5 in Newtown and this one in Yarmouth, although it could be part of the flock in Newtown. I felt so blessed to see him.
