An endemic speciality

We went up to the Akamas peninsula in hope of a new orchid and were rewarded with Orchis anatolica troodi, the Troodos Anatolian orchid. They are tall and elegant and we found several good stands of them. Quite similar to the four spotted orchid but the long spur at the back sweeps upwards rather than downward.
We also spotted a yellow Dactylorhyza, again a local speciality. The orchids are still opening so we have been lucky to choose the right week for our holiday!
