Paolozzi Elephant

Some of the reports we have heard about the new V&A in Dundee have been less than complimentary, such as 'the outside is more impressive than the inside' We took the express bus (free with our bus passes and free coffee and bun) to check for ourselves.

Firstly, we may recommend the cafe, who gave us our discount for using our Pokito cups.
I enjoyed both galleries, especially the Scottish Design Gallery, crammed with a variety of exhibits, as wide as fabric by Bernat Klein, an enameled silver casket by Phoebe Anna Traquair and a reconstructed Oak Room by Charles Rennie Mackintosh for Miss Catherine Cranston's Tearoom.  One of my favourites is (main picture) the elephant case, designed by Eduardo Paolozzi for promotion of linoleum manufacturer Nairn Floors of Kirkcaldy, made of cast PVC and polystyrene.

Certainly the exterior has many interesting aspects, some of which appear in the extra photo collage.

The bus home took us on a jolly trip through Fife, returning us home some one hour later than the express, still in plenty of time to enjoy our Shrove Tuesday pancakes.
