Alcazar Palace and Golden Tower

This morning we visited the Alcazar Palace and in the afternoon we took a river cruise, which started and ended close to the Golden Tower. We had pre-booked tickets for the Alcazar as long queues develop for the Palace, and the adjacent cathedral.

We spent the whole morning in the Alcazar and the gardens of the palace. In the later morning we stopped at a cafe in the gardens where I developed a sneezing fit, I must have been having a reaction to something in the gardens, though nothing had seemed to bother me while we were walking around.

The Palace and gardens have ornamental fountains and water passages in abundance. The Moorish influence dominates the architecture with the arches and ornamental tiles with geometric patterns.

After a break for a light lunch we decided to take a river cruise. The trees lining the banks of the river blocked much of the views of the buildings which were pointed out to us along the way.

In the evening we had dinner at a tapas bar, our first foray into the tapas since we arrived. I expect they should really be a pre dinner snack, but we managed to make a meal of them.
