Cockermouth Castle

The 3 Amigos and Chloe by the river Derwent and Cockermouth Castle.

Sunshine and showers today, but the 3 Amigos stayed dry.

The first castle on this site was built by the Normans in 1134...

Some of the stones came from Roman settlements nearby...

It was badly damaged in The War of the Roses, and in The Civil War...

It has been owned by the Percy family and the Wyndham family...

The castle is opened to the public on Heritage Open Days...Ros is one of the guides, and sometimes I am tail end Charlie!
