Myrtle spurge (Spring Bloom no.14)

Euphorbia myrsinites aka Myrtle spurge has long evergreen trailing stems with spiralling pointy grey -green glaucous leaves each 1-2cm long. It’s really quite exotic looking and comes from southeastern Europe from Italy to Turkey.

Most surprisingly it can project its seed up to 4.5m and I can testify that it does indeed self sow. (I have one offspring).

I’ve read it’s classified as an invasive species and must be destroyed in several states in the USA. Luckily it’s not banned here in the UK and doesn’t seem to spread very easily.
