The Standing Stone

Situated within the University grounds lies this standing stone, believed to mark the battle site where Kenneth MacAlpine (supposed first king of Scotland) defeated the Picts in 843. It's rather surreal that it stands in the middle of the rugby pitches (up at the back of the uni, next to the golf course), although kudos to Stirling uni who left it in place (after initial fears it would be moved to make way for the pitch). This is another one of those things that I never really knew about while actually studying/living here, but am now finding out about through my lunch-time blipping escapades.
Also considered blipping this pic of some nice branches and reflections.
Of course, my blip wouldn't be complete without some obligatory pics with the monument lurking in the background.

Have a nice weekend everyone.
