Petasites albus

White Butterbur - also known as Petasites alba

This plant, introduced from central Europe in the 17th century, is quite rampant in Dunnikier Woods, Kirkcaldy, Fife. Its distribution within the woods generally follows the tracks so I suspect a mechanical agent has assisted with its dispersal.

The Battlefront
There is another alien invader present in the woods - the few-flowered leek (Allium paradoxum) and at one location, colonies of each come up against each other but barely overlap. Who will win? only time will tell. See the first 'extra'.

I blipped the same plant last year.

Fellow blipper Talpa blipped the same plant earlier this week.
