Recycled plastics

International Women's Day. CBC Radio 2 played only songs performed by women on the early morning show.  What a superb selection!  A bit of history: women were finally recognized as persons in Canada in 1929. Thank you very much. Happy to live in a country where I'm recognized as a person. (a bit of my sarcasm on display here)
An addition to our usual Friday morning was an appointment for G, then the normal routine resumed: breakfast at Barb's, recycling, and grocery shopping. Busy as usual in Barb's and an older couple asked if they could join us because we'd been seated at a table for 4. We enjoyed the conversation we had with them. They live in Victoria but have a property here. Turns out that she worked at the Faculty of Education at UVIC, secretary to a former dean that both of us knew, and she also knew other people that G worked with there. Her husband was a retired architect.
I decided to go to the recycling centre with G rather than walking around town to find a blip. I wanted to look at the recycling bin for books because we have a bunch of old textbooks. I couldn't find it and asked a couple of the workers - turns out that the bin had been removed yesterday and the little free book room has been closed because the company that recycled them no longer does. How disappointing!  The workers said that hopefully a new company can be found. They were originally from London (the UK, not the Ontario city).
We woke up to snow!  I took the first extra of our garden just after 7 am. By the time we got home, most of it the new snow had melted. I measured the depth of the deepest snow yesterday - 9 inches. It's still below 0 overnight and not very warm during the day, so it's going to be awhile yet before it all melts. I can still walk on top of it without sinking.
I took the 2nd extra at the doctor's office.  Don't put those snow shovels and the kitty litter away just yet!
