Sightseeing Saturday

This morning our friends Linda and Nigel enjoyed the Nelson Market and stocked up on fresh fruit and veggies.  We joined them for lunch on their boat at the marina.  The afternoon was spent driving out to the Dovedale Valley and seeing some of the areas of burnt forest.  Extra is the forester looking at an area which had young trees that burnt and they are too small to salvage.  An excavator is moving them into windrows so baby trees can be replanted in the cleared space.
We then drove along the Motueka River valley to show them the horticulture area.  We saw a large area growing blueberries under tunnel shelter as well as apples, grapes and hops.  At the Motueka wharf there were people fishing and at the Salt Water Baths a large number of camper vans parking up for the night.  The blip is looking out to Tasman Bay from below the fishing platform.  There are more interesting clouds coming in.
We also stopped in at Mapua.  Back into Nelson to buy fish and chips and once again we ate on their boat because a shower of rain was starting.  The fish and chips were yummy and finished off a lovely afternoon.
We have had another 9mm of rain today.
