And a Merry Xmas to you Mr Trump

What a strange world we live in. I had intended to write about the Inverurie Square Christmas Tree in all of its glory. Thirty foot in height, lots of shiny baubles and lights, standing proud in the Memorial Gardens where so many Scot's from the town set off to fight in war never to return and lightening up the winter evenings at this festive time of year.
However my local paper today carries a very strange full page advert placed by "Trump International Golf Links - Scotland".
It claims, if I read the text literally to have come from "the same mind that backed the release of terrorist al-Megrahi" "after he ruthlessly killed 270 people on Pan-Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie" and suggests that readers of the advert contact Scotland's First Minister, Alex Salmond to seemingly protest about windfarms.

I can only assume that the Trump organisation have employed children as young as five to write the copy for the advert. For starters the death toll in the aircraft was 259. A further 11 residents of Lockerbie were killed on the ground!
Then there is the question of timing, just a week from the 24th anniversary of the tragedy in which people so many people died, Trump International has seemingly decided to use the event to pursue profit.

Mr Trump's organisation has previously dubbed Bill Forsyth of Local Hero fame a "misinformed jackass", has seemingly banned whisky from his hotels and, subject to debate, has modified a Scottish SSI using bulldozers.

The full text of the advert can be found on the Scotsman website.
