The river valley of the pig

We woke to snow in the garden but that quickly turned to rain - still it's good to get out. Errands in Penrith followed by a yoga class (ouch) and then a drive towards the patch of blue hovering near Blencathra.

We walked into this valley that sees very few crowds - I've probably not been here for eighteen months or so, and found it somewhat scarred. I very very nearly blipped the really rather startling path that has appeared across the wetlands - made from 3 inch thick slabs of slate that are roughly 8ft by 4ft - I've never seen anything like it before. I don't know whether to be impressed or outraged - it seems a lot of effort to stop people getting their boots wet!

But in the end the view towards the higher tops, that dusting of snow above the 400m contour & a patch of blue all won the day. It's a choice.
