Ever Had One of Those Days?

Hearing that a new vintage poster from Heals furniture shop had just started at Upton House we packed a lunch and set off for a look.  The first obstacle was the closure of the A422, Banbury Road. This involved a country lane diversion to Wellesbourne and on towards Compton Verney, closed for the season at the moment. We detoured through Kineton and Edge Hill and eventually rejoined the main road.  Arriving at Upton a few minutes later we discovered the place was closed today due to the high winds.

So it was back the way we'd come with the idea of stopping off at the Kings Head in Wellesbourne for a coffee.  No such luck. The pub is in the middle of redevelopment and closed for the time being.

Plan B (or is it C) then, pop to Charlecote for lunch and coffee.  We had our lunch in the car park before visiting the reception area.  "Oh by the way" the friendly volunteer said "the cafe is closed today.  Hot drinks are available from the hut in the tea garden" but of course that means sitting outside to have a drink with the gale force winds bringing the temperature down to about three degrees.

After a quick walk so I could take a picture or two we headed back to the car and decided on a coffee at Nero, back in Stratford.  Eventually we found somewhere open, warm and serving coffee!
