Orchis punctulata

Really the final day of orchid hunting so we went for another look around the Akrotiri area. To our horror as we knelt down to photograph the first orchid we spotted, we were descended on by hordes of starving mosquitos! As we were both wearing shorts we were easy prey and had to make a rapid and undignified escape!
All was not lost, as we went for a stroll up the hills from Happy Valley. We discovered a cobbled donkey track up the east facing side of a limestone hill. We gradually spotted a good range of orchids including some fine Naked Men! But the best one had to be the rather rare Punctate Orchid, standing some 40cm tall and a great yellow colour. There were only two stems and I think we were pretty lucky to find it. A great addition to our list.
