Diary of an Edinburgher

Visitors!

The bathroom people were an hour or so late today - they had an emergency somewhere. Once that lull was over, it was like Waverley Station all morning with people coming and going.

First to arrive was Pretzel and her mum. The builders, when they arrived, thought they were seeing double! Archie loves them all now and has to go and see each person (no barking today!) but wee Pretzel hung back, looking slightly terrified.

Next to arrive was a teaching colleague who had been at a meeting nearby. After catching up with her news, she asked, 'What are the chances of using your toilet?'
'Er, zero... it's in the front garden. ' It wasn’t there when she came in. She popped in to the gym after she left.

Next came Libby, Archie's friend, and she brought along a friend. Almost at the same time a chap I’ve been in contact with about the interior doors arrived. All doors open, gate open, (builders don’t close gates) the hallway full of people coming and going, dogs running everywhere... pandemonium.

The doors man was quite positive about being able to fix them, and didn’t look too horrified at the rough patches of sanding that I’d done on just about every door. He thinks that they probably haven’t been dipped already, which is good news, as that's the easiest option, but he's going to map out a couple of plans of action for door refurbishment. And costs. Just as well I didn’t decide to go private with my knee refurbishment!

The bathroom people have been so impressed with the plastering job done in the kitchen, they've asked our lot to plaster the bathroom too! Er... as long as it doesn’t hold up the kitchen job!!

Pretzel and I took a wander up to collect a prescription. I was very impressed that a different doctor, who saw my online repeat prescription, took the time to ring me and suggest that I stop the pills for the carpal tunnel, and try a gel instead. No side effects.

A delivery also arrived, ordered yesterday online. Some neat little window stops, so that they can be opened for fresh air, but not for burglars. The window chaps considered my anti-burglar device - a couple of screws - wasn’t appropriate for lovely new windows.

Progress!
