Seeing Beyond Looking

Abstract

What is an abstract?

Abstract photography is based on the photographer's eye. It's looking to capture something in a way that it would not usually be seen. Looking for details , patterns, lines, form, shapes and colours so that the original subject becomes detached from its easily recognizable form.

Abstract photograph is a way of depicting a visual image that does not have an immediate association with the object world.

The only abstracts I enjoy photographing are those that appear naturally. Macro photography is great for that as we can isolate parts of a recognizable subject which creates a natural abstract - even though we may vaguely think we understand what it might be. That is not the point!

I have put up three abstracts. The main one is a structured metal piece which reflects and deforms all that is picked up in the reflection. The lower green part is grass. It is SOOC.
Extras:
- snowflakes melting into water drops on the window-pane. I would have liked my macro lens to isolate these drops with reflections, but it wasn't available!
- another element of structured metal inside picking up the colours and shapes around it.

For me, an abstract is something that is not easily recognizable in shape. I don't need to edit abstracts with creative apps. They appear quite naturally when we look out for them. I think the biggest help is to move in very close and reduce or eliminate entirely the well-known shape of our subject.
