Loner

Because he wasn’t listened to
he stopped speaking.

His mouth became a hole
he pushed food into.

Black thoughts drizzled in his brain
heavy-rained and grew

thunderous
became drumbeats that turned

into a raging of hooves
racing through his head.

Who knew, who knew?

When he marched into school that day
and exploded

(taking many of the innocent with him)
no one could believe it.

He was such a quiet boy.
Kept himself to himself.

A loner you would say?
Oh yes, a loner.

Definitely a loner.
