Nature Diary... Pruning The Eucalyptus Tree
Saturday. A day of calm after the driving winds and pelting rain of Friday when it seemed doubtful if not impossible that the trees surgeon would be able to prune the Eucalyptus tree. Overnight though the winds blew away, the rain stopped, and Saturday dawned innocently saying “Problem? What problem? All is calm. Let’s get to work”. And up the ladder the athletic young tree surgeon sprang, sang his way through the branches of the tree, grinned as he looked down from a height of about 40 feet, and shouted “About this high?” Then he set to work like a child who couldn’t think of anything else he would rather do, he loves his work so much. Makes up for a great many over-priced surly workmen who seem to loathe their job. Within two hours he and his assistant had worked marvellously together, pruned the tree to perfection (as they’ve done for several years now) loaded into their shredder massive lengths and tons of pruning and shredded it in situ. In time for lunch they chatted briefly, cracked a few jokes, and waved a cheerful cheerio.
Huge thanks guys! You know who you are! Laters!
