Leaving Lake Ohau

Today we didn’t really have a plan, but started off driving from Ohau to Twizel so Mr S could do more fishing in the canals. The weather was on the change, so no point heading back to the mountains. The weather looked better in the east, so we drove over the Lindis Pass, and over the Thompson Gorge Rd to Drybread. Many many gates to open! Very beautiful but quite bleak scenery. Some gold exploration work going on, and chance to look at some old gold workings.
Next stop was Naseby. What a great little place! Then over the Danseys Pass in the pouring rain, and on for a night in Omaru.
Last orders was 21.30 in Omaru!!
