Siena

Yesterday evening, LDC and NSLLDC landed in Florence. They came here for the weekend. Just a quick visit, but very much appreciated. You see, it’s my birthday in a couple of days and having them here was the greatest present ever!
We spent the whole day in Siena, where we visited the cathedral, the library, the baptistery, the crypt, the famous Piazza del Campo, where we had lunch (we had pici), and we climbed the “facciatone”, what should have been the cathedral facade. From there, we enjoyed a gorgeous view over Siena and the area around it. In the afternoon we had a scrumptious MCCIC and then we headed back home stopping in Gaiole for a pizza.
In Piazza del Campo, one of the gargoyles of the Torre del Mangia was playing football with the moon (main). In the extra you can see the panoramic view from the “facciatone” and one of the tomes in the library whose glass case was reflecting the frescoes on the ceiling.

Thank you LCD and NSLLDC for such a fabulous day out together. :-)
