Bananas and tents!

Sometimes you just have a whole run of incidents.

We are safely back from an epic-free fine ride though, and that's the main thing. It wasn't so picturesque but fantastic to get a ride in warm sunshine.  As we paused to look down to the coast, spotting this gorgeous tent-web spider ranked high with the winding descent through endless banana plantations as the best part of the ride. I wonder how many cyclists come to take photos of spiders?! I guess I'm one of a kind really but I did fall in love with her lovely shape. Reminded me of old Blipper Vodkaman's arachnids and wondrous bugs.

Ah yes, and then the rest...

Last night's dinner was almost a meal for one as they forgot Rich's dinner. When it came out eventually, the chicken bones were still cold in their rush, and had to go back to be re-cooked. It was then a meal that could only be consumed alternately with glugs of water.

We decided that the pool being closed for a week without telling us wasn't for us so have found alternative accommodation (not the spider's tent although tempting!) and got a refund. Some of the texts from the owner were pretty poor. Airbnb have handled it very well once they took over. Sort out the rest when we're home.

The next problem arose in the new place as one of the enthusiastic staff brought Rich's bike up to our apartment on an electric buggy. He misjudged the corner and, with a wheel sticking out... well, you can imagine! Thankfully, it's a hire bike (and we took insurance), the hotel have handled it exceptionally well (covering costs anyway and delivering wine and fruit) and there's a spare bike on its way to the bike centre for tomorrow. It'll delay our outing but fingers crossed that's all. Lessons learnt!

Not exactly the getting away from it all trip that Rich needed. But it will be soon, I'm sure of it!

We've had a good(ish) meal and heard the strangest of nasal cartoon-like sounds coming from the skies when we returned to our apartment. We could have sworn at first it was kids on a computer game but, looking into the dark sky, we could see some pale birds flying around and have, with a google search, discovered they are cory's shearwaters.  Listen out if you're ever here. It was like a laughing policeman tonic after our last 24-hours of bananas.
