Very mixed feelings about these.

Brought in from America they have decimated our native red squirrels across most of England and Wales. They out compete them for food and give the reds a nasty fatal disease.

Efforts are being made to bring back our reds. Those efforts have been successful in the central and southern Lake District and now we are trying to spread that success to the Arnside/Silverdale area.

Reducing the grey population is unpopular with some people but new and more humane methods are becoming available. People would be more sympathetic if they saw the suffering which they inflict on the reds.

Nevertheless they make a good blip.
