Half mast....

While mum and I were out and about today we noticed the New Zealand flag was half mast not only at prominent public places, ie outside council chambers, but also at cafes and local back yard gardens. The flag is  lowered as a mark of mourning and respect for the victims of the terror attacks in Christchurch last Friday.

Mum and I visited R today, we chatted quietly as we sat beside him, occasionally there was a murmur or flicker of the eyes but mostly he was asleep.

Driving into the city and out again the roads were very quiet, along with the supermarket, it was quiet last Wednesday as well. We think the measles outbreak and the terror attack have made people more aware of their surroundings.

Wednesday......quiet sunrise, mostly cloudy morning with pockets of blue sky during the afternoon, it was warm and breezy throughout the day.
