Flying

Arriving at Edinburgh Airport I spotted this tribute to someone I greatly admire. Born in Leith 100 years ago, Eric "Winkle" Brown was one of the greatest test pilots the world's ever seen. From the highest number (2721) of carrier landings - a US pilot lost his mind trying to break the record - to understanding why Geoffrey de Havilland was killed trying to break the sound barrier by reproducing the conditions in the same type of plane, he made the world a safer place to fly. He died aged 97!
