It’s been a strange day. I picked mum and dad up this morning and took them to Histon as mum was going into The Spire to have her knee operation. We got there and checked into mums room, a lovely nurse came in to do her obs and shock horror, mums blood pressure was through the roof. They gave it half an hour and took it again but it was still too high. The anaesthetist came in closely followed by her consultant. The hours ticked by, the nurse cane back to do an ECG and take her BP again. Along came the anaesthetist again who decided it was too risky to do the op today so, after a visit from the hospital GP and then a wait for her discharge papers, we packed her bags and checked out.
A disappointing day for everyone, especially mum who had psyched herself up for the op and dad who had booked his annual leave around mums operation so that he could be on hand to look after her.
I felt curiously drained after the whole experience and laid down for a while when I got in. D has gone over to the Brewery for a drink but I’ve decided to stay here and veg out on the sofa.
