Coyhaique

Two long flights have brought us down to Patagonia where we have a hire car which will be nice.  The idea is to explore the Aysen valley which is a less visited region according to our travel agent.

We are spending one night in Coyhaique which is the gateway to the Aysen region.   We were told that this area is very remote and little English is spoken and you need cash for most transactions.

We had an enormous meal tonight.  We each got two fillet steaks on our plates with two buckets of chips that defeated us.  I was worried that there was a language error and we had accidentally ordered two meals each.  It certainly felt like it but we were only charged for one - and at a very reasonable price too.

Due to travelling there haven't been many opportunities for photography and Jane and I had largely the same shots.   This is the view from the rear of our hotel which is very quirky and feels alpine.  There are a lot of Germans in this area who were invited to the country to develop the farming in the 19th and early 20th century
