Brings out the best in Crocus laevigatus.

Unusual to have so many of the autumn crocuses still in flower as we approach the winter solstice but this one is usually in flower now. In the shady front garden there is a small clump which may well be just opening its first flower on Christmas Day.

The side view shows off the variable outer petal markings. And talking of side views, did you see what Bradley Wiggins had done to his hair? Very pleased that such a decent guy (and one with a very distinctive personality) won BBC Sports Personality of the Year .... but the hair Brad, made you look like a would be boy pop-star!
