The Sweet Spot - Arabi, Louisiana

We took a 90 minute riverboat tour on the Mississippi River just south of New Orleans.  It was a nice ride although there was not much to look at once we got south of the city.  The only photo worthy spot was this Domino Chalmette Sugar refinery in Arabi, Louisiana.  


The plant was built in 1909 and and is still in operation today.  It produces over 7 million pounds of sugar a day or 2 billion pounds a year!  Apparently this plant processes about 20% of the United States cane sugar.
