Branching out

A visit back to Cartmel today, home of sticky toffee pudding, a National hunt racecourse (the smallest in England] and a beautiful 12th century Priory. The rood and choir stall carvings were delicate: see extra.

With fewer tourists today it was a peaceful spot with sheep grazing in fields in the village. And the daffodils were blooming everywhere.

At this time of year as you drive around you really notice the structure of trees before the leaves hide them. This old tree (judging by the size of its trunk) had the strength to throw out this lengthy branch which seemed to defy gravity.

Last day of the break so packing up tonight.
