Tailored by Telford

These are some of the stone blocks next to the 'works lock' of the Caledonian Canal. The canal was meant to be twenty feet deep, but never was. Thomas Telford thought that this part of the canal exhibited its finest masonry, quite Inca like in the way the stones fit together. The reason you can see the original 19 and 20 feet marks, is that the water has never eroded them.
