Marlborough Wine Country

The weather is changing now as you can see and after almost a week of sunny weather we have overcast sky all day which has now turned to rain.

Great day visiting wineries in Marlborough. Virtually every thing is planted on the flat plain here and then the mountains loom up on both sides, but without vines. The flat allows easy mechanical harvesting some of the rows of vines are nearly 2km long....

Visited 6 wineries which is hard work but someone has to do it. Favourite of the day: Rock Ferry - they follow a more the french style and do an excellent off dry Pinot Gris and various good Rieslings including a fantastic late harvest example. Shame they are too small to export any wine to the UK....
