back on

As anticipated yesterday evening our underneighbour did not disappoint and ng-chih-ed us awake at two in the morning. The council noise team were invoked and swiftly appeared but were hampered in their assessment of the noise by the recently-installed lateral neighbour who had recently bumbled in and who appeared to be playing loud nineties' shit-metal to mask the sound from beneath. Although he didn't emerge when summoned by the noise team's knocks on his door with both knuckles and Maglite he did eventually cease his emittances. As there is now a history of noise the procedure differed from the last time; the operatives popped downstairs to tell the idiot to shut up, buggered off for a bit then rang back to see if the noise was still there (which it was) which resulted in their return to take the official measurement. Unfortunately it was (as expected) not noisy enough to be deemed to be breaking the terms of the warning but the incidents will build up and if the complaint call is made after a certain time then it would be the police who would do the hammering on the door. Were it not for the draining effect and day-fucking-up qualities of sleeplack it wouldn't be so bad but most of the morning was again wasted and I didn't feel capable of much for much of the rest of the day. At one point I even got fed up of walking but made up for this by fishing out my bike (not pictured above... don't know whose this is though I sympathise with their mudguard problems) and all the bits which go with it (except the computer but it'll turn up) and heading out for a nicely invigorating circuit of some of the cycle paths. Hard to tell if the noticeable crapness was from the tiredness or the reduction in cycling recently but I should at least be able to sleep properly tonight.
