Matchstick Man and His Dog.

A little known fact:
The artist LS Lowry spent a lot of time at Knott End (on the Wyre Estuary) sketching the ferry and its occupants during his summer visits during the 1940s & 50s.
This rather delightful sculpture marks the spot where he would have stood.
His painting 'Jetty at Knott End' bears testament to his visits.
It seems it was a little busier in those days :-)
