Red deer

Wild Red deer, that is not really so wild.

These elegant beasts of the forest are so used to the presence of man, relying heavily on their keepers to supplement their food diets through the winter. Some estates have so many deer, there is simply no chance for seedlings to develop and grow. Remove most of the deer and the woodland recovers incredibly quickly. Fortunately, there are some more enlightened estates who are coming to realise that there is more to sporting estates than heather and grass.
