Fantastical creatures

We head to Temple Newsam in two cars - Leila & visitors leaving early, Tony and his offspring later.

While Leila gets interviewed by Channel 4 we prowl the estate, dodging a Lycra-heavy park run. Then there’s tea and cup cakes at the opening of Leila’s exhibition.

We follow the trail over three floors, through ten centuries, ending up in a small, but immaculate, assortment of pieces borrowed from Leed’s museums. Then there’s the ritual smashing of a white chocolate replica of a porcelain antique. Inside there are chocolate fish, starfish, eggs; a hidden cache of praline; and seemingly endless structural dark chocolate.

Back to Sheffield for a late lunch and a well earned siesta. A steak supper followed by a long, late bridge session.
