An Afternoon of Surprises

The day got off to slow start, feeling under the weather still, a much hated clock change not helping! Post shopping for tonights roast and my lunch I set off on a belated dog walk.
Unsurprisingly the canal towpaths was very busy, as the sun shone down on the sheltered towpath it was summer like. Surprise No1  a chance encounter with fellow Blipper Val C  who recognised my trio of retrievers and was sure enough to ask, we have followed one another a while but had never met before, a treat indeed.
Walking on we passed the first Swans nest, rather (Surprise No2 ) worryingly the nest was open, down racked back , at least 3 eggs exposed to the breeze. The Cob was by the nest on guard and the Pen was further down the canal feeding. I was told she had been off for at least 15 mins! When we passed going back she was back at the nest preening egg still exposed , hope they were not set!
Back home roast beef in oven and F1 GP  watched!
Hope you all had a grand weekend one and all!
