Forced Perspective on A Butterbeer

Tickets had been bought as a Christmas present to visit the Harry Potter Studios in Elstree, so we’d had plenty of time to look forward to it... and fortunately it did not disappoint.

There were countless sets to view and production facts to discover. What amazed us most was the level of detail: the shops in Diagon Alley were actually full of thousands of handmade books, tricks, wands etc. 15000 costumes had been made, and all of the portraits around the castle were actual oil paintings, specially produced, then aged. it was incredible.

My blip is a good demonstration of forced perspective; a trick used to make Hagrid look bigger than the actor playing him. Basically, the furniture in the foreground is bigger and higher than in the background.

Incidentally we all agreed that butterbeer isn’t that nice. It’s kind of like Ironbru with a slightly fizzy toffee frothing on top. Just so as you know.
