House Heyden

House Heyden is a former water castle and was for centuries the center of the Heydener Ländchen. This was created in 1361 from the towns of Richterich, Horbach, Bank, Berensberg and Eygelshoven. After the French revolution, the Heydener Ländchen was abolished. Haus Heyden dates from around 1360. Then the castle was a refuge for the Lords of Jülich and it was part of the Heerlijkheid Jülich. Around 1500 the loan received inheritance law. The monk Anna von Schoenrade, who at the time was the owner of the castle, handed it over to the Von Bongart family.
