Black And White, High And Low

As we approached the alder by the little bridge the cormorant was in its usual position on top of the tree drying its wings. The pair of swans, whose territory this is, usually greet Ollie dog with hisses. All was quiet today, they've constructed a huge nest of reeds at the base of the tree and one of them was sleepily sitting. It didn't pay any attention to Ollie at all. She was interested but knows she mustn't approach waterfowl. I'm a bit worried about the siting of the nest, it's easily accessible to predators.
