Moth time

As a change from birds, plants and scenery, today’s blip is a moth.

This one is a Macro moth called Barred Tooth-striped.Trichopteryx polycommata.

It was caught in the moth trap at Leighton Moss this morning. My mothing friends are concerned about it. Its main food plants are Privet and Ash. In the south and midlands there is more Privet. Up here in the north-west it relies more on Ash. But increasingly more of our Ash is infected by Ash die back so its future is uncertain.

It was a lovely morning today even if there is still a chill to the wind. So here are some Pussy Willow extras. If I have a camera in my hand I just can’t resist them.
